Hummingbirds symbolize joy, happiness, beauty and harmony. They can move their wings in a figure eight pattern (infinity symbol) and can maneuver up, down, sideways, and backwards. The only other creature that can do this is the dragonfly. In the Andes, they are a symbol of resurrection. It seems to die at night, but revives at sunrise. This image is a small detail from a larger painting entitle, "Flight to Fantasy".
The artist was born in Pennsylvania, but grew up in Michigan through age 18. She returned to Michigan 17 years ago, after living 15 years in Texas, 8 years in New Mexico, and 4 years in Oklahoma. She attended Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Pamela graduated as an illustrator and pursued that career in Texas. In 1992, she started her own business, Kirkham Fine Arts. For the last 17 years, her focus has turned away from doing murals and illustration to creating healing, vivid, acrylic paintings that seek to free you from the struggles you face.
