Inspired by a sunny, windy evening at a private beach, I painted this little plein air original in June. The lifeguard chair stands empty. No one, including me, dared enter the water. Evenings like this are my favorites...tranquility in the midst of the power of the wind and waves.
The artist was born in Pennsylvania, but grew up in Michigan through age 18. She returned to Michigan 17 years ago, after living 15 years in Texas, 8 years in New Mexico, and 4 years in Oklahoma. She attended Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Pamela graduated as an illustrator and pursued that career in Texas. In 1992, she started her own business, Kirkham Fine Arts. For the last 17 years, her focus has turned away from doing murals and illustration to creating healing, vivid, acrylic paintings that seek to free you from the struggles you face.
